Introducing Nummo, the Search Coordinator for Recruiting Firms

Today we're excited to officially re-introduce Nummo to the world as the Search Coordinator for recruiting firms.

Recruiting comes down to two relationships: candidates, who trust you with their careers, and clients, who pay you to find the people who will change their business. Everything else, the scheduling, the status updates, the notes, the follow-ups, the handoffs, is coordination. Necessary, but not why anyone got into this work.

We exist so recruiting firms can spend their time on the two relationships that matter and let the coordination run itself.

How we got here

There's a saying in recruiting:

“Nobody grows up wanting to be a recruiter, you just fall into it.”

If we're being honest, this path found us too.

Nummo was first introduced as a copilot for financial modeling back in March of 2025. With Matt's investment banking background, we set out to reimagine the spreadsheet. We knew it would be hard, and we spent nearly a year at it. Unfortunately, the market kept telling us the same thing, and eventually we listened. It was time to pivot, however painful that felt in the moment.

We tried a few directions after that, from finance management for startups to task management for VCs and founders, but nothing really stuck or garnered enough interest.

Fortunately, somewhere in the middle of all that pivoting, we had a conversation with a recruiter that changed everything. She shared how her day-to-day work was still very manual, and how every AI tool her firm gave her expected her to become a configuration expert before it did anything useful. She didn't want to learn how to prompt, she just wanted her process to run.

So we did the only reasonable next step. We interviewed as many different recruiters as we could find and mapped their workflows to see whether this problem was real enough to bet the company on.

The answer was obvious, and we decided to go all in.

What Nummo actually does

Another recruiter put the problem to us in one sentence:

“My calls end at 5pm, but my real work begins at 5pm.”

That second workday is what Nummo takes off your plate. We sit down with each firm, map how their searches actually run, then build the coordination layer around their exact process. It's not a generic tool the firm bends itself around, it's their process, running on its own.

In practice, that looks like client status reports drafted and ready before the client thinks to ask for them, prep pulled together before every call so nobody is scrambling through old notes ten minutes before a kickoff, and follow-ups written the moment a conversation ends instead of piling up until Friday night. Candidates who haven't been touched in weeks get surfaced before they go cold, searches drifting off track get flagged while there's still time to save them, and the invoicing and back-office work that nobody enjoys just gets handled.

And because trust matters more than speed, nothing goes out the door without a human saying yes. Every draft shows you exactly where it came from, so approving takes seconds instead of another full review. Your firm stays in control of every word a client or candidate sees.

The result is that recruiters spend their hours on candidates and clients, operators see every search's health without chasing anyone for updates, and the work that used to start at 5pm just gets done.

What we learned

Since then we've kicked off pilots with search firms where we're essentially rebuilding their processes together, and one lesson keeps repeating.

You can't just drop AI into a workflow and expect it to work. The tools multiply, the instructions balloon, and the recruiter ends up managing the AI instead of the search. The hard part was never the intelligence. It's the coordination: knowing which step of the firm's process comes next, across every system the firm already uses, without anyone having to ask.

That's the job of a search coordinator, and that's the job we built Nummo to do.

What's next

This rebrand is only the beginning. In the coming months we'll be sharing much more, from client stories to the advisors joining us on this journey.

Recruiting firms shouldn't have to choose between running a great process and having time for candidates and clients. We're building the coordinator that makes sure they never do.

If you run a search firm and your real work still begins at 5pm, we want to hear from you. Write to us directly and one of us will respond personally.
